Palazzo Ripetta: meeting point between Italian art, history and elegance
Rome nestles in the heart of Italy, a land of wonders and a crossroads of cultures. Rome is art, history, breathtaking landscapes, eternal beauty. Surrounded by a magical atmosphere, here the elegance of yesteryear meets contemporary luxury, history blends with modernity, the classic with innovation. Palazzo Ripetta, a magnificent independent 5-star hotel, stands in this unique setting. The enchanted place where elegance and style meet Italian hospitality.
Palazzo Ripetta is opening in September in Rome, in the historic building of the former Conservatorio della Divina Provvidenza dating back to the 17th century.
Located between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna, in the historic and evocative Via di Ripetta, a stone’s throw from the Ara Pacis and the Mausoleum of Augustus, Palazzo Ripetta is born with a new concept that harmoniously combines culture and design.
The seventeenth-century building acquired in the 1960s by the Ginobbi Group was first restored in 1968 by architect Luigi Moretti, a prominent protagonist of the 20th-century Italian architectural scene. He designed the original stucco work and the vaults that can still be admired today in some rooms of the building. Inside, a 17th-century frescoed chapel coexists harmoniously with works of art from various eras, including a Sphere by Arnaldo Pomodoro.
With a substantial investment, a major restoration of the entire building began in 2020: the interior design project was entrusted to a team of professionals, the Fausta Gaetani Design and M.O.I. Architetti studios, who were able to harmonise Moretti’s work and the building’s history with a new vision of Roman classicism and contemporary luxury.
The 78 rooms and suites have been designed according to new canons of expression: a high level of technology, environmental comfort and refined fabrics created exclusively for the hotel make Palazzo Ripetta a unique “work of art” for the eternal city.
Giacomo Crisci, entrepreneur and administrator of the Group that wanted and oversaw the project, declares: “The intention is not only to give the city a new landmark with a building of outstanding value, but also to tell a new idea of hotellerie with our country’s art, history and culture at its core. We want our guests to have a unique and exclusive experience and that is why we have selected materials and products of Italian excellence, but above all it will be the people of our staff – the beating heart of Palazzo Ripetta – who will make the difference.”
The restaurant concept has been curated by Laurenzi Consulting together with Roberto Liorni’s architecture studio. The offer will be aimed at the entire city, in addition of course to hotel guests and tourists. An idea that combines comfort and refinement to recreate the all-Italian taste and warmth of the traditional “Sunday” restaurant.
